Frankly, how many of us know that we eat Palm oil and not Ice cream.
Yah, Kwality, one of the most renowned foreign player in this segment uses Palm Oil instead of Milk fat.
Only that which uses Milk Fat can be called an "ICE CREAM". Check it before you eat it.
Check any Kwality or other brands, they use every other alternatives but never use the word "Ice Cream"
Few local companies ignore this and use the word Ice Cream which is illegal. Then, check the ingredients around the label, it says "Frozen Desert Contains Edible Vegetable Oil"
Palm Oil or the Vegetable Fat ( as mentioned on the label) costs around Rs.50-Rs.60 a kilo whereas Milk Fat costs around Rs.300 per kilo.
Perverted companies use palm oil making the Frozen desert for very little cost. They give high margins to the shop keepers and they sell it for more money. But, companies like Amul which spend a lot for the production of Real Milk Ice Cream can't give huge margins and the shops don't sell them.
It's our ignorance which is making their existence. Let's fight it and stay healthy. Eat Amul, our own Indian Brand.
